Promotion is a skill, an expense, a must, and always the last thing people think about while working hard to produce a show. Unfortunately, if your efforts go unpromoted, a lot of good work is literally overlooked. What can you do to make your message heard?
Newsletters
Write an article on your program, mention air dates, take photos on the set, place an ad for the air dates

News releases
Write a news release, keep a list of ideal media contacts, fax when new info can be shared (air dates, guests, accomplishments), call to follow up, get to know your contacts, push for a story
Cost: Time to research contacts, write and fax releases
Flyers
Print and distribute quarter or full-sheet flyers at events or neighborhood gathering places to promote air dates

Hard copy and electronic distribution, list serves
Aside from distributing flyers by hand, use e-mail or list serves as well, place news release content in the body of the e-mail, attach a jpeg of the ad

Word of Mouth
Be aggressive in telling everyone you know to not only watch, but to also inform others of your show and air dates

Radio, morning show interviews
Call radio stations and morning news programs to coordinate interviews on the subject matter of your show, promote the air dates during the interview

Postings Post on your web site, or on any other web sites that your organization is affiliated with

Chamber of Commerce
If you have an upcoming event, submit the information in advance to the Chamber of Commerce

Tape a thirty-second video promo for your program to air on MCTV 15 when shooting your show

DVD distribution
Your program is a great tool that can promote your organization’s work even after it has aired, distribute to board members, key stakeholders, partners, etc.
