Geek Tips
Editing video on Windows just got more affordable with Sony Vegas. Sony creative software has long been the first choice for many video editors. Their Sony Vegas Pro software has powerful tools and features for demanding editing tasks. At $600 it has been outside the reach of many casual editors.

Now Sony has released Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD at an amazingly affordable price of just $40. This package is built on the same technology as the more advanced Pro product yet much of what makes Vegas fun, fast and easy to use remains. You get a very capable editor that has more than the basics. Green screen, slow motion, titles, transitions, Ken Burns effects are built-in and ready to use. You get up to 4 tracks of audio and video with seamless mixing of standard and high definition video. This has got to be one of the best editors for beginners available. I highly recommend it.
Media Production Workshop
The Media Production Workshop is proving to be a fun and creative way for you to get your questions answered on many topics on how to make and edit videos.
Join John Cumming for the continuing Media Production Workshop, Tuesday, February 9, at MCTV15 Studio COS from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. In this meeting we will discuss and demonstrate different types of microphones, how and when to use them. Please bring any sound recording equipment you may have to share and spark discussion.
We will be having another workshop on Tuesday, February 23, at MCTV15 Studio COS from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Please mark your calendars.

Production Tips
Making television shows is not difficult when using modern equipment, good techniques, a team of willing volunteers, and pre-planning.
This month's tip:
- Know the Policies and Fees for use of Studio including Forms and Documents. They can be printed from our website.
- Signed Show Agreement form must accompany submissions for airing on MCTV15
- Studio Booking fee is $25 for a three hour block. This covers use of studio and props, cameras, and equipment in the control room. Producers are responsible to confirm their volunteers to operate equipment for their production.
- MCTV15 provides a Production Coordinator to help volunteers complete the production.
