About Me
Hi, I am John Cumming the somewhat mad Scotsman now living in Mt. Shasta, CA.
I am a Jack of all trades and a master of some, but mostly none.
Strengths:
- Idea creation, problem solving and management
- Internet application development
- Video and post production
- Digital photography
- Static and interactive graphic design
- Software design and development.
- Dealing with MCTV 15 board!
Weaknesses:
- Dealing with MCTV 15 board!
- Saying 'Yes'
- Spelling and grammar. Dyslexia is a wonderful thing to have
- Too much work and not enough play. Or is it the other way round?
- Have not made my first feature movie
- Do not watch sports
- Can't handle the full email inbox problem ... it's just too much.
- Research a Topic To Death!
My MCTV 15 Mission:
- To raise the production quailty by helping get a new character titler.
- Design, purchase and deploy an affordable 'studio-in-a-box'.
- Improve the media server to greatly improve MCTV 15 onscreen presentation. Short form programing including public service announcements, upcoming show details and simplified scheduling will be possible.
- Spearhead new service contracts between MCTV 15 and local government and non-profit organizations. Including policy updates, initial contract negotiation and producer role in the first contracts.
-
My Old MCTV 15 Mission:
- A plan for an effective very-low budget video production and editing system.
This has been completed twice over. One for our old Studio 174 and again as we moved in to Studio COS.
- Purchase and test equipment for studio
Again, done for both studios.
- Assist operations manager and program director with workflow and planning.
On going.
- A new web site that can be updated by anyone from a simple web browser. Got Wiki?.
You are looking at it, baby! This site has been up and running since 2003.
- Training for staff and volunteers in basic video production techniques.
On going.
- Mentoring with Non-Linear Editing (NLE) system use.
On going.
- A new cablecast bulletin board system to replace 'Big Blue'
Done. Big blue is long gone. Long live the media server.
- Design a new cablecast video serving system from inexpensive off-the-self parts and some custom programming.
Done. The media server does both jobs. It plays back video and displays the bulletin board messages.
